One Music Fest 2k19

One Music Fest: 10th Anniversary Last year I attended One Music Fest as my first Music Festival and it was lit. After seeing the line up for this year, my sister and I made it our goal to go again! There was no way I was missing Gucci, Three 6 Mafia, Musiq Soulchild, Ari Lennox, Rick Ross and PHARRELL!!! Like the line up was crazy! I was a little sad about missing Snoh Aalegra, but I’ll see her on 11/30. However, I had some of the BEST catfish while at the festival! Atlanta Seafood Company was delicious! I ordered an “Obama” and it was FYE! Think we ate the same meal both days! I encourage everyone to do One Music Fest at least once! I wasn’t too crazy about the festival being at Centennial Park, but to witness the growth was amazing. My sister does Banaroo Music Festival every year so that may be on my buck list for 2020. Knowing me I’ll probably be at One Music Fest again next year🤗 I saw...... Musiq Soulchild, Trina, Trick daddy, Bobby V, Usher, Pharrell, Rick Ross, M

Mauzy Music

Mauzy Music  Sooooooo I could be bias af, but I encourage EVERYONE to bump Mauzy Music! This year he gave me one of my favorite songs and I got to see him perform it at the A3C Music Conference! Mauzy’s 2018 project slaps! When he performs it’s an incredible vibe. Mauzy gives me J. Cole vibes, but with so much more personality. I’ve seen my cousin perform twice now and it’s been a vibe each time. I can honestly say I’m proud of him and I can’t wait to see him perform again!

Tyler, GoldLink, & Blood Orange

So it's October and life was going crazy. I'm sad (crying) over a boy, sending voice memos (7:21..yes it was that long....🥴), and fasting (food, social media, only water, being intentional in my prayers/worship) for church, but really trying to avoid my personal life. I went to 3 concerts that week! "Imma go dumb the first week of October" was my positive way of dealing with it all. I used all the concerts of that week as a distraction (Chris Brown, Tyler, & Wale). #HealthyCoping Tyler, GoldLink, & Blood Orange Tyler:  I was not a big Tyler, the Creator fan! However, I enjoy his interviews. I was late to understanding how great “Wolf” was, but he is a great artist. I didn’t know many songs outside of what’s on "Flower Boy" and “IGOR”. I love admiring a great performer for the first time! Tyler knows how to put on a show! I bought tickets the day before the show and it was a great decision. He performed with the wig on too. Tyler has s

Deante’ Hitchcock

My first time seeing Deante’ perform was November 2018 at the New Daisy in Memphis, TN. He was opening for 6lack which was cool seeing Atlanta Artist share the stage together. Summer Walker opened as well, also an Atlanta Artist. I had no clue who Deante’ was and clearly I was sleep. I knew he was very popular for his in the car freestyles, but I didn't know he had real bops. I was also familiar with his song “Wide Open”, but had no clue it was his song until he performed it. I pretty much stood in the crowd just admiring how he captivated the attention of the audience! He had so much energy it was crazy. So over time I’ve fallen in love with his songs “ Wide Open ” and “ Thinking ‘Bout You ”. “Thinking ‘Bout You” has this line about Shaggy & Scooby and if you know me I love Scooby Doo. He dropped an EP titled “ Just a Sample 2 ” earlier this year and it was on repeat! This might be one of my favorite projects from this year. I was determined to see him perform live again. He’s

Jhené Aiko & Smino

I actually went to see Jhené the night before my Grandma’s funeral. I saw that the U of M was having her come perform on Instagram and I had to go. I guess wanting to attend a show before a funeral may be different, but we all cope differently. This year, I’ve turned going to concerts and listening to live music a part of my healthy coping mechanisms. In a way it’s how I practice mindfulness. Jhené was amazing! She gives off great positive energy. Jhené is a beautiful person. It was cold af outside, but it was worth it. S/o to my best friend for going with me. I have to see Jhené again! I would love to see her on tour. I’m still waiting on a Tweenty88 Part 2!  I saw Simno the same night! His project Noir was a great album and I finally heard Z4L live. His hype man/cousin was entertaining as well. I’m interested to see how he grows especially since Revenge of the Dreamers III did well and is nominated for a Grammy. Triggered @ U of M on 11/1/2019
